Rawk Ecommerce Web Design & Content Management

Rawk has established itself as one of the UK's best and biggest online retailers of roller skates, skateboards, accessories and related streetwear. It sells a complete range of Heelys shoes, JD Bug Scooters, Dinosoles, alongside all-manner of skate-related and themed products, toys and accessories.

Following extensive consultancy on Rawk's brand strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, Dusza created a new, edgier, more urban-looking identity and complementary web site design template. Pleased with Dusza's re-branding package, but disappointed with its then web development company and Rawk's performance in search engines, Rawk looked to Dusza to take over development of its eCommerce site.

As well as improved functionality, Rawk needed to achieve its ambition of hitting the top spot in search engines for key search phrases such as "skateboards" and "roller skates". Dusza re-programmed the entire e-Commerce within three months of the initial consultation, and continued thereafter to invest time and effort into the site's search engine optimisation and marketing campaigns.

Today, Rawk enjoys top ten spots in Google, Bing and Yahoo! for roller blades, JD Bug Scooter, inline skates, Heeleys and around forty other skate-related high volume traffic searches. Built into Dusza's eCommerce solution is the ability for the shop owner to further refine and optimise search engine marketing terms for every last product. Additionally, all items in the shop are automatically fed to Google shopping as an RSS feed. These features enable Rawk to continue to occupy top spots for related searches in Google.

Rawk's eCommerce site is crammed full of nifty features to help make the experience as pleasant and easy as possible for the shopper. Customers are encouraged via the ordering process to set-up an account on site. Not only does this negate further form filling for future purchases, but the log-in details also give the customer access to their own area within the site where they can view and amend personal details, and keep check on the status of any orders, including tracking any parcels via courier consignment numbers.

Customers also now earn loyalty points for each purchase, and can buy gift vouchers for redemption later on, both of which can be viewed in the customer log-in area. Other neat, customer-led, features include a floating shopping basket with helpful shopping reminder pop-ups, and a product selector that recommends gift ideas to shoppers based upon their requirements. Related products, a search tool, and the ability for the shop owner to push products for sale on the home page have all contributed to increasing the volume of sales via its online shop by as much as 300%.

The eCommerce site contains a comprehensive order and customer management system which enables the site owners to print picking and packing lists, download and manage invoices, log and authorise orders (the shop supports multiple payment gateways, including Google Checkout, SagePay, and PayPal), track orders via courier, and input orders taken over the telephone.

Website trends and statistics and even search logs are recorded, all of which enable Rawk to gain insight into the kinds of products that visitors to its site are interested in buying. A built-in HTML e-mail module enables Rawk to send specifically targeted marketing messages to its mailing list subscribers. Campaigns may even be monitored and analysed within the content management system.

If you are looking for an ecommerce website which is easy to use for both you and your customers, then contact Dusza, the ecommerce specialists, on 0845 094 6442 or email hello@dusza.co.uk.

Job Dating HTML Email Design & Programming

Part of the Principal Partners group of recruitment solutions, Jobdating.co.uk is a fixed-fee, online job board, specialising in finding suitable employees for vacancies with salaries below £50,000.

The company consulted Dusza regarding the development of a successful HTML email marketing campaign to drive new business to its site, and how it could also best convey its brand in this medium so that it would appeal both to candidates and prospective employers.

After the initial meeting, Dusza were commissioned to design the graphical components, and layout and code the supporting HTML for two subsequent mail-out campaigns. The HTML email utilises a funky, fresh design, but one that exploits the best elements and colour palette from existing visuals on the web site, thus creating homogeny between the two mediums.

The slanted, wide bold type and supporting photography lend an impression of youth and dynamism, of being people-focused, but without losing its business edge or sense of professionalism. The finished and fully tested graphics and code (compatible with all major mail applications, both offline and web-based) were delivered to Jobdating.co.uk for it to manage its own mail-out.

Do you need help with your digital marketing strategy?
Harbourview Web Design & Content Management

Harbourview Developments is a locally-focused consultancy and construction company based in Poole, Dorset. Over the past twenty years, the company has worked hard to build a reputation for quality, bespoke builds and comprehensive, caring customer service, but needed to bring its public-facing appearance up-to-date with a new web site design.

As part of a complete rebranding package, Harbourview chose Dusza to develop its new, content-managed web site. The main purpose of Harbourview's site is for the promotion of its activities to potential clients, and for this it required areas where it could display a portfolio of work with descriptions and photography, and where it could outline the company's mission statement and policies, as well as parade testimonials from previous clients. It also required a quick and easy way for clients to get in touch.

As well as the design and programming, Dusza were also commissioned to write the copy for the web site. In all, it took fewer than five weeks from the original consultation for Dusza to design all of Harbourview's new branding, and to build, pre-populate with content, and launch the new web site.

The completed web site comprises five key areas, all easily accessible from the tab-based navigation: Home, Who We Are, Experience (a collection of pages filled with information and pop-up photo galleries detailing past projects), Services and Contact. Where areas are further divided into separate pages, a chunky sub-navigation menu drops beneath the tabs, enabling visitors to jump straight to a specific page.

The main navigation and key page elements all adopt the four principal colours used in Harbourview's logo: blue, green, grey and white. A subtle gradient grey background is used to 'lift off' the white rounded-edge boxes that hold the main content from the page. The overall presentation is designed to give the site a luxurious and prestigious brand feel, whilst retaining a spacious and airy appearance that draws parallels with some of the company's more illustrious builds.

To promote Harbourview's four key building project types, the home area displays a generously-sized click-through banner carousel which rotates through photography and brief descriptions of each area in turn. An additional navigation exists solely for the banner to enable visitors to select any project type and view it again, rather than wait for the advertisement to cycle around.

In order for content to occupy the prime area on screen, the banner carousel is programmed to collapse on all other pages. Text is styled so that opening paragraphs are written in an attention-grabbing, large, green serif type, while peripheral content, including contact details, links within the section area, the quick contact form and brochure downloads, are positioned in the columns that flank the main area.

Interested in a Dusza Web Design?
Rawk HTML Email Design & Content Management

When Dusza built and designed Rawk's eCommerce system, it included into the package an HTML email and mailing list module. This enables Rawk to send marketing e-mails to customers and other subscribers via its web site.

The mailing list module is programmed with a number of filters that enable the administrator to target messages to specific groups of people. For example, it can be set-up to only include the address in a mail-out if the customer has bought the same or similar types of product from the site before, or if they fit into a certain demographic (such as employment status, gender, age, or hobbies and interests).

As part of its marketing strategy, Rawk regularly sends out these e-mails that contain news of product launches and special offers, plus voucher codes that can be redeemed to save money on purchases in the online shop. Dusza pre-programmed the content managed area with a preset HTML template for Rawk's first mail-out, but using the design tools built into the system, the clients themselves have managed to successfully create some stunning designs for all of the subsequent mail-out campaigns.

The delivery of these marketing e-mails are monitored and reported on by the system. It can report back to the site administrator when and if e-mails have been delivered and read, and even if the recipient used a link in the message to click through to the site. These reports enable Rawk to better gauge the success of its marketing campaigns.

Do you need help with your digital marketing strategy?
Bugscooter Ecommerce Web Design & Content Management

Bug Scooter is an online retailer of JD Bug Scooters and Mini Micro Scooter products, based in Poole, Dorset. As well a wide and varied supply of scooters, encompassing everything from brightly coloured toddler varieties to adult sized stunt models, Bug Scooter also stocks a range of spares, safety equipment and accessories.

As well as assembling the basic framework for the design in a matter of days, Dusza also programmed a bespoke e-Commerce system for Bug Scooter, complete with a content-managed area where the shop owners can maintain the site's content, product catalogue, and any orders it receives.

The public-facing aspect of the site is light and airy, quick to load, and neatly delineated into sections using simple thin grey lines and boxes. With the exception of the strategically placed advertising banner areas, largely speaking the only other graphical elements employed throughout are the photographs of the products themselves. This enables the brightly coloured accessories and scooters to really leap from the page.

In terms of management tools and features, the e-Commerce system is not found wanting. The system allows the shop owner to: add and edit text to any of the content pages; to manage customer orders and special discount codes; to view, manage and dispatch orders; plus of course there is complete control over the products themselves.

One critical factor for this particularly niche online store was for the site to be ranked highly amongst the major search engines for the term "JD Bug Scooter". Dusza built the site so that keyword and Meta tag descriptions could be modified by the administrator to help in this respect. It combined this with some search engine marketing, and achieved Bug Scooter's goal of achieving a number three spot within Google's natural search listings for the required terms.

If you are looking for an ecommerce website which is easy to use for both you and your customers, then contact Dusza, the ecommerce specialists, on 0845 094 6442 or email hello@dusza.co.uk.

Indigo Lyon Web Design & Content Management

In May 2009, Peter Smales re-appraised his company Indigo Lyon, an aircraft sales and technology-focused business development and management consultancy he originally established 2001 in Sydney, Australia.

Now incorporated in the Windsor, UK, Indigo Lyon boasts a global business operations footprint providing private individuals, businesses and governments with business jet, turboprop and helicopter sales brokerage, consultancy and acquisition services, as well as investment, sales and distribution opportunities for innovative aerospace and other advanced engineering technology products and services. As part of this re-appraisal, Indigo Lyon required a new web site design.

Dusza designed and built a content managed web site for Indigo Lyon. Rather than a comprehensive resource of information, the web site's main function is to provide a single point of entry where potential clients can get in touch with Indigo Lyon, either via the site's enquiry form, or via any other means advertised on the site. As such, the telephone number, e-mail address, and other contact information is prominently displayed in the footer of every page. The site also includes overviews of all the services, information pertaining to aircraft sales (further contact information points are used on these pages) and a profile of the managing director, Peter Smales. The latter lends the company and web site a more approachable, personable deportment.

Dominating the entire design is a deep grey coloured, easily identifiable main navigation bar, under which clearly and boldly sit the logo and slogan. Further below, the content is divided into four main areas: Home, Sales, Consulting and Innovations; each of which is advertised on the home page via the click-through banner carousel (or linked to via the buttons in the main navigation). Whilst these elements are fixed, a second sub-navigation that sits alongside the body text frequently changes to list the pages within the currently selected area of the site.

The actual design of the Indigo Lyon's web site is sober and refined, instilling confidence and professionalism. Through the use of open spaced uppercase type, wide areas of negative space, and its use of dark, monochromatic tones, the site is able to present itself as a high value brand. Colour is used sparingly. With the exception of photographs, colours only appear in "call to action" areas (such as information downloads, or contact points), or when visitors interact with the navigation. In these areas, graduated blue and green corporate colours are used.

LJC CRM System & iPhone Web Apps

LJ Construction is an established, award-winning carpentry contractor based in the West Midlands. Working in partnership with major house builders such as Barratts, Taylor Wimpey and David Wilson, LJ Construction required a Client Relationship Management (CRM) system that would help them more efficiently organise the myriad jobs and sub-contractors in its service, and to be able to contain all of this information within a single, easily-accessible and updatable repository.

The bespoke CRM developed by Dusza for LJ Construction comprises three main management areas: one for Admin, another for Sub-contractors, and a third that contains Client data. The Admin area enables the site's administrator to set-up and manage additional user accounts for the CRM system.

Each user account has its own password protected log-in, and a panoptic set of definable permissions that determine whether this particular user may access or edit a given section in the system. This means that the system administrator can set-up profiles so that certain staff members only ever get access to the areas applicable to their jobs, or that the ability to edit fields, or to view sensitive and confidential data is only available for senior level administrators.

With the Sub-contractors area, LJ Construction is able to collate all of the information pertaining to its contracted staff, and even allow these sub-contractors to log-in and update contact details (amongst other things) for themselves. The system is designed so that sub-contractors in the field can use their Smartphone or iPhone to book in and log time spent on a job, giving them the freedom to manage their own time. Further sections store information about the sub-contractor's medical notes or history, payment terms and information (such as bank account details), and tools listings.

LJ Construction's CRM also integrates into an XMS, another of Dusza's web systems, to enable the company to use the CRM to send text messages to sub-contractors working on a given project to alert them to documentation they must read and sign, or tests on the documentation they must have read before undertaking the work. Health and Safety, COSHH and other tutorials can be digitally signed-off via the system.

The Client area stores all information pertaining to LJ Construction's customers. Alongside address and other contact details, the system keeps a record of any key contacts, and the status along with extensive notes of all of the jobs undertaken for that client.

The CRM fulfilled its brief of streamlining the role of LJ Construction's administrative staff. It enabled them to better manage client invoicing, estimates and other documentation. It also succeeded in centralising all of the data required for a contract, and its related client and sub-contractor information, in one, easy-to-manage, location, and thus replaced the less efficient, multiple file system LJ Construction had in place before.

Do you need an online system that will help you to better manage your client communications and jobs? Contact Dusza about CRMs today on 0845 094 6442 or email hello@dusza.co.uk for a more efficient way to work.

Stone Vine Ecommerce Web Design & Content Management

Stone, Vine & Sun is a Winchester-based mail order wine merchant. Established in 2002, Stone, Vine & Sun has quickly earned a great reputation for its award-winning wines. Its owners travel far and wide to seek out new and interesting wines from Europe and the New World wine countries.

In fact, one of Stone, Vine & Sun's unique selling points is that much of the wine sold through its site is unavailable anywhere else in the UK. The company achieves this through forming close bonds with the families of the vinyards.

Due to a bad experience with a previous web company, Stone, Vine & Sun, was understandably cautious when choosing a new developer. It wanted to work with a supplier that could actually provide experience and knowledge of building and designing eCommerce systems, and actively provide solutions rather than follow a brief to the letter.

Dusza created a new website for Stone, Vine & Sun which has exceptional design-led qualities, including considerations for unique aesthetics, brand positioning, boutique shop tone, purchase points and sales promotions available from the home page. The whole site is nicely wrapped up with an easy-to-use navigation and topped off by a simple, intuitive check out process. It also included a content management system (CMS) that enables its owners to have complete control over unlimited content and product lines.

As such, it fulfilled all of the criteria Stone, Vine & Sun specified for its e-Commerce web site. Namely: provision for the inclusion of over six hundred different wines, available individually or by case; a secure payment system that not only meets legal and security requirements but one that allows full control of timing and amount of payment taken; a design that expresses the personality of the business; a comprehensive search tool that enables shoppers to search for wine by many different criteria; one that is really easy to buy from, and that remembers customers; and one that is simple for administrators to edit, maintain and publish new products, information, press reviews, special offers and so on.

The site's quirky yet knowledgeable tone is achieved through a combination of its warm, soft visual appearance (utilising scripted typefaces and natural colour tones that are sympathetic to the subject matter), the use of a blog, social networking bookmarks and links (allowing for word-of-mouth advertising), and its great repository of wine-related information. It all culminates to form a site that is both undaunting for first-time users, yet bereft of circumlocution for experienced web shoppers that like to buy everything in a hurry.

As a result of Dusza's re-design and subsequent marketing (including setting up marketing e-mails and search engine optimisation), Stone, Vine & Sun's web site customer base and loyalty has increased immeasurably.

If you are looking for a website which converts your visitors into customers and maximises sales then contact the ecommerce experts - Dusza - hello@dusza.co.uk or 0845 094 6442.

Rawk Google Pay Per Click (PPC) Optimisation

Pay-Per-Click or PPC is a commonly used advertising model on the web in which advertisers pay only when an advert of theirs is clicked upon by a user. Google uses PPC extensively on its site, and it serves up advertisements based upon the keyword phrases entered by visitors.

Advertisers 'bid' up to a maximum value to be included in the advertising spaces for key word searches. As part of a complete web re-design package, Dusza also refined Rawk's Google PPC campaigns, of which there are more than 200 currently running.

Dusza helped reduce Rawk's annual pay-per-click costs by as much a 75% within twelve months of taking over the campaigns, and all without affecting sales. In fact, dues to search engine optimisation and other factors (including increasing the quality score of the campaigns themselves), sales have almost doubled in the same period of time.

Dusza has specialist staff who are not only experienced in traditional marketing techniques, but have also been trained at Google's European headquarters in Dublin in the correct and frugal use of PPC adwords on Google.

Do you need help understanding Google Pay Per Click?
Rage Web Design & Content Management

Rage is a contemporary and creative hairdressing salon based in Bournemouth, Dorset. Renowned both locally and nationally for its dark, edgy styles and unique and fashionable hair design, Rage commissioned Dusza not only to re-build its existing web site, but also to work with them on refreshing the entire brand.

As well as providing a showcase for its exclusive cuts, Rage hoped that a new web site would not only better reflect its quality service, edgy style, and the über-chic experience that defines its uniqueness, but also that it would help encourage new patronage, both through the use of promotional mail-outs and data capture, and with a new showcase gallery of cuts.

Dusza designed and built Rage a content-managed web site so that it could publish its own news, price lists and opening times, keep its styles gallery fresh with new photo collections, and manage its own mailing lists to send out promotional messages to subscribers.

Appropriate emphasis was placed on imagery throughout the site re-design. From the giant-sized navigation area that utilises some magnificent model photography in the background, to the gallery thumbnails encapsulated in thick, light-coloured borders, everything is designed to allow the images to stand-out above all else. This is achieved largely by the use of a suitably dark, yet multi-toned grey and black background, but also by the minimal use of colour elsewhere. Only the first paragraph of each text item is coloured using a light sand yellow to draw in the reader's eye to the rest of the article.

To stamp its distinctive brand on the web site, the same Guilty typeface as used in Rage's identity is adopted into the site design, appearing as section headings and in the main navigation. Elsewhere, white, emboldened sans-serif type is used to ensure any text is as easy as possible to read on the dark background.

Paramount CRM System & Secure Client Area

Based in Banbury, Oxfordshire, Paramount Safety Solutions is a service-based company, specialising in providing Health & Safety, Risk Assessments and comprehensive site Audits to the plumbing and construction industry.

The company uses a unique blend of personal contact, unflinching support and, as a result of commissioning Dusza to help them develop a Client Relationship Management system, internet technology to provide instant online delivery of a clearly defined range of technically developed and personalised health and safety documents.

Paramount's client management system is in essence a vast, secure online library of H&S documentation, including Health & Safety Policies, Risk Assessments, Tool Box Talks (the correct and safe use of tools), Audits (questionnaires on safety aspects of a site), and Accident/Near Miss investigations.

Clients are able to log-in to their own account within the system and access these documents from any computer. But it is much more than a simple repository of fixed, downloadable PDF files. The data contained within these documents may be edited, and the PDFs re-generated upon download. The system allows both users and Paramount's administrators to make changes to the text within the library of Tool Box Talks, Risk Assessments and other documentation so that they are site- or job-specific. Standard, unedited templates may also be downloaded as a sample for an ongoing tender. Once logged in, clients also have access to an integrated messaging service to facilitate contact between themselves and one of Paramount's qualified health and safety advisors.

For Paramount staff, the CRM also enables them to better manage their workload and provide a faster, more convenient service to its clients. Not only can it communicate with the client via the CRM, but the system is capable of storing every last piece of required information about a given client, its jobs and sites, and even the key contacts within the company. It uses all the information inputted to prepare estimates and invoices for jobs, and to customise the H&S documentation to personalise it for the client, vastly simplifying the administrative process for Paramount's employees.

Do you need an online system that will help you to better manage your client communications and jobs?
Harbourview Logo Design

Harbourview Developments is a locally-focused, friendly consultancy and construction company based in Poole, Dorset. Over the past twenty years, the company has worked hard to build a reputation for quality, bespoke builds and comprehensive, caring customer service, but needed to bring its public-facing appearance up-to-date with a complete rebranding exercise starting with logo design.

Dusza put together an all-inclusive branding package for Harbourview, which comprised a new content managed web site, stationery, copy writing services, and of course, a logo. To complement Harbourview's own development work, the logo was re-designed from its fussy line art harbour scape drawing into a collection of simple and clean shapes.

The logo utilises green and blue to reflect the company's environmental awareness and credentials, as well as its geographic location and name. Atop the flow of muted colours floats a iconic representation of a sailing boat that serves not only as a literal depiction of the company's catchment area, while also acknowledging its customers' aspirations.

To balance out the free-flowing nature of the iconography, the company name sits firmly, centrally, and squarely below, giving the logo a solid foundation and integrity. The open space uppercase Myriad type lends the brand a more prestigious feel, aligning it with other luxurious brands and companies.

Interested in a Dusza Logo Design?
Head To Toe Ecommerce Web Design & Content Management

Head 2 Toe Security is a supplier of specialist clothing and safety equipment for door supervisors and other security personnel, It sells a diverse range of products, including Hi-viz/PPE Workwear, radio comms, body armour and first aid supplies via a high street shop in the busy Charminster district in Bournemouth, Dorset, and also to its nationwide customers via its online shop.

With high demand for its specialist products, Head 2 Toe Security approached Dusza to see if it could offer a better eCommerce solution than it had already. Its existing site had a number of limitations detrimental to customer fulfilment, and Dusza quickly identified all of the key areas that required attention so that Head 2 Toe might establish itself as significant competition to the market leaders in its sector.

The key requirements for Head 2 Toe's new site included an integrated automatic payment system to reduce administration time; a comprehensive Content Management System with a user friendly interface so that it is easy for administrators to update; the ability to search engine optimise content for better penetration into search engine page results; customer login facility to streamline future purchases; and of course a new, improved design to establish the business as a market leader. Dusza delivered on all of these key requirements with the Star eCommerce system.

Refining the company's logo was essential to establishing the new brand identity. The new logo combined with a well-defined, judicious design for the main layout of the site not only allows product sales to be driven directly from the home page, but also helps to instil more confidence in the customer with regards to the eCommerce's credibility.

Overhauling the design, tone and usability, as well as its performance in terms of browser compatibility and speed, has worked in terms of affirming Head 2 Toe as a reputable alternative to the existing market leaders in the security industry for specialist security clothing and equipment. Streamlining the sales checkout together with automating the payment gateway has dramatically improved the customer experience, and successfully converted more of the existing traffic into actual sales.

The site has a comprehensive Content Management System (CMS) behind it which gives the shop owners total control over the web site content, order management and, most importantly of all, the product catalogue. It makes maintaining and updating the web site easier and quicker, thus saving even more valuable administration time. There are many more time and labour-saving devices programmed into the administrator's system too. For example, the back-end is capable of taking and logging orders, processing payments, creating picking lists, automatically sending e-mail invoices, and even exporting sales information into Excel-compatible spreadsheet files for accounting purposes.

Maintaining high standards of customer service was vitally important to Head 2 Toe Security, therefore as well as administrators being able to manage customer and order details, customers are also able to log in to view and update their own details, as well as track their order status.

If you are looking for an ecommerce website which is easy to use for both you and your customers, then contact Dusza, the ecommerce specialists, on 0845 094 6442 or email hello@dusza.co.uk.

Rawk Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)

Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" or unpaid search results, rather than paid for advertising. There are numerous, search-engine approved, techniques that can be employed in SEO, including adjusting the content, structure and code of a web site, creating inbound and outbound links, and refining keywords and Meta tag descriptions.

When Rawk enlisted the help of Dusza to refine its eCommerce in July 2009, its site was making little or no impact in search engines for many keyword searches directly related to the products it sells. Part of the problem was that its original site had not been programmed to be search engine friendly. This was instantly fixed when Dusza replaced the existing pages with new, search engine optimised, keyword and description-rich (but not over-weighted) pages and page titles, built with valid, error-free, W3C compliant XHTML and CSS.

In addition to overhauling the site and its code, Dusza also worked over a period of months to re-submit the site to search engines and directories, and to build quality in-bound links to Rawk's site. The work also included submitting XML site maps and product feeds to Google, and adding Rawk to Google's Local Business Search.

As a result of Dusza's SEO, Rawk is now at the top spot in Google for the search term "roller skates", and enjoys top five positions for all of its other product ranges. During the SEO process, Dusza also helped to train Rawk's staff in search engine optimisation techniques so that they could continue to maintain the top spots achieved. Of course, contrary to popular opinion the web doesn't begin and end with Google. Dusza also spent time working on Rawk's position within Yahoo! and Bing too, where it also now enjoys top ten positions for related product searches.

Do you need help optimising your site for better search engine rankings?
G&H Web Design & Content Management

The G&H Group is an independent construction company based in Bournemouth, Dorset. Trading for more than a century, the company has grown a healthy reputation and pedigree for delivering high quality commercial buildings and renovation projects across all building methods, from traditional brick and mortar to modular building systems.

Following a successful re-branding, the G&H Group asked Dusza to re-develop its web presence too, not only to bring it up-to-date with its new identity, but also to build a stronger, online presence and better utilise the site to generate leads. The new site would aim to give visitors a more thorough understanding of the G&H Group's wealth of experience and heritage, demonstrate that the G&H Group are the market leaders in its specialist sectors, and compel them to work with the G&H Group on their project.

Dusza designed and created a web site where its visitors would be able to easily find all of the information they required about the G&H Group and its services, utilising content-managed News, RSS Feeds, Mailing Lists, Events and Our Community areas. Additionally, visitors can see the wealth of experience the G&H Group have in the Showcase Module, which exploits Flash technology to provide engaging, interactive video tours of the company's flagship developments. The landmark buildings portfolio help to reinforce visitor confidence in the G&H Group as a local construction contractor and are available to the visitor via the Our Community Module accompanied by Community Sponsorship section and Community Events.

The web site is designed with the rapid delivery of key information in mind. It is not only attractive and engaging, but is effective at delivering core information simply and quickly. It focuses on placing the most relevant information in hot spots and not providing busy potential clients with information they simply don't need. The site does provide a wealth of facts and figures for clients who are looking to research a construction company thoroughly, but the delivery of this information is in a subtle and structured way.

Utilising the latest technology and online marketing strategies, Dusza also promoted the G&H Group web site and generated further targeted interest in the G&H Group. Dusza used comprehensive Search Engine Marketing (SEM) on an ongoing basis to drive relevant traffic to the G&H Group website and convert this traffic into business leads.

G&H CRM Client Feedback

The G&H Group is an independent construction company based in Bournemouth, Dorset. Trading for more than a century, the company has grown a healthy reputation and pedigree for delivering high quality commercial buildings and renovation projects across all building methods, from traditional brick and mortar to modular building systems.

The G&H Group required a bespoke client log-in area module to be programmed into its existing web site. Its purpose would be to provide a password-protected area where clients could log-in and download financial and other company documentation, as well as get access to client feedback questionnaires.

Each of the documents uploaded to the Client Area is assigned to one or any combination of the three access levels programmed into the system. When a client is added to the CRM, it too is assigned an access level, and this determines which of the documents are visible to him or her in the Client Area. This three tier level of permissions enables G&H to control who gets access to which documents, and means that more sensitive company information is only available to trusted suppliers or customers.

As part of its commitment to continually improve the standard of service, the G&H Group devised five client satisfaction questionnaires. Beginning with the tendering process and closing with project completion, each stage of a project has its own unique set of questions or statements to be rated by client on a scale from one to ten.

All of the questions have been developed to help the G&H Group recognise where there is room for improvement, and to provide ideas about what it should be working towards in the future. These were all programmed into the CRM. Which questionnaire the client is presented with upon log-in is dependent on the settings made by the system administrator. Once a client its set-up, it can be assigned and then re-assigned questionnaires as often as required.

Whilst most of the questions are fixed, for the latter questionnaires, several entries may be customised to make specific enquiries for each individual client logged on the system. An overview of every submitted questionnaires is viewable from within the admin area of the web site. Individual questionnaires can even be downloaded by the administrator into an Excel-compatible spreadsheet so that it may be collated and the data used to produce the appropriate reports.

Do you need an online system that enables you to control client access to documents and to manage client correspondence more effectively?
Rawk Logo Design

Rawk has established itself as one of the UK's best and biggest online retailers of roller skates, skateboards, accessories and related streetwear. Regularly ranked at or around the top spot in Google for roller skates, Rawk has an exemplary record of customer service, providing loyalty reward schemes and generous returns policies, alongside its competitively priced products.

Dusza created an entirely new brand for the company, including re-building its eCommerce solution as well as the design for a logo. It was imperative that the new logo would help build Rawk into a credible brand amongst skateboarders, who are primarily teenagers and young adults, whilst at the same time, would not alienate parents or intimidate novice skaters.

The result is an edgy, gritty, and urban look, but one that literally shouts excitement and fun. Emblazoned against a dark, brick background texture, the highly contrasting yellow type features a shattered glass effect eminating from the inner circle of the R, spreading across the whole word. This gives it the required "street appeal" without resorting to off-putting and clichéd graffiti type. The main text is then further emphasised with a brush stroked style underline, which also serves to separate this from the web address below.

Given that Rawk's sales are almost entirely generated via its eCommerce site, it was vital to incorporate the company's web address into the logo design. The slightly mis-aligned lettering in the web URL, and the angle at which the entire logo is tilted, does imbue it with a sense of exhuberance, youth and motion, thus perfectly capturing the essence of Rawk's product range.

Interested in a Dusza Logo Design?
Head To Toe HTML Email Design & Content Management

As part of its marketing strategy, Head2Toe Security occasionally send e-mails containing product offers and news to its existing customers and newsletter subscribers.

When it commissioned Dusza to re-build its e-Commerce web site, it was vital that the update contained a facility where Head2Toe could continue to contact its customers. Dusza added its HTML email and mailing list module to the e-Commerce solution, which enables the administrative staff to do just that: send graphic-rich marketing messages containing all manner of content, from news of product launches, through to discount codes that may redeemed at the checkout.

HTML e-mails are preferred for marketing messages over the text-only variety because they provide support for formatting and semantic mark-up capabilities that would not otherwise be available in plain text. This means graphical items such as photographs, logos, and other supplementary images can be inserted, along with other typography formatting (bold, italic, colours, links, lists and so on), to form a visually-rich and engaging message. Although there is no defined standard for HTML e-mail, most modern applications and web-mail services can read (and default to) this format. For those that don't, the HTML e-mails are programmed to degrade gracefully in text-only mail applications, and contain a link to a web page where recipients can view it as intended.

Head2Toe's mailing list module was pre-programmed with a number of filters (and user-defined preferences) so that the shop administrators are able to target marketing messages to specific groups of people. Dusza also pre-programmed the content managed area with a preset HTML template for Head2Toe's web site launch mail-out, and have subsequently designed further HTML e-mails for the shop. All of the marketing messages incorporate graphical elements from the site, with large calls to action in the top banners that link through to the site.

The delivery of these marketing e-mails are monitored and reported on by the system. It can inform the site administrator when and if e-mails have been delivered and read, and when and if the recipient used a link in the message to click through to the site. These reports enable Head2Toe to better gauge the success of its marketing campaigns. As a result of its HTML e-mails, Head2Toe Security has seen a healthy increase in quality traffic to the site, resulting in more sales.

Do you need help with your digital marketing strategy?
Skate Sale Ecommerce Web Design & Content Management

Skate Sale is an online retailer based in Poole, Dorset that offers top quality quad, inline, aggressive skates as well as skating accessories, Heelys and Dinosoles fun shoes all, as its name suggests, at bargain sale prices.

Fanatical about providing quality goods and customer service, it was vital to Skate Sale that its e-Commerce site would be easy and enjoyable to use for its customers, but equally that the site would be robust, have little or no downtime, and help establish Skate Sale as serious competition to the market leaders.

Development of this project began with an extensive consultation where the market as a whole was investigated, looking for opportunities and analysing the strengths and weaknesses of its potential competitors. With such fierce competition in the skates market online, it was imperative that Skate Sale's web site would be in a position where it could compete effectively amongst other, larger brands. Following this initial consultancy, Dusza developed a proposal for Skate Sale's web site, and worked with the client to develop a brand name, design and structure.

The site itself utilises Dusza's Star e-Commerce system, which enables the shop owners to upload descriptions, photographs, and specify variations in colour, size and price for each of its products. There are stock and supplier management tools too, enabling the administrators to monitor levels of products from its various suppliers, and the site itself to automate which items are displayed (out of stock items can be temporarily hidden from public view). The Customer Management area of the e-Commerce system enables both the site owner, and the customers themselves, the ability to view or amend contact and order information, and track orders dispatched via courier.

Everything about the layout and structure of Skate Sale is specifically designed so that making a purchase is as simple as possible. As many as twenty of the shop's favourite or best-sellers can be included on the home page, so that within a couple of clicks, shoppers can fill their baskets and be half way through the checkout process.

As well as the product push, Skate Sale also features a "Deals of the Week" column into which any items with discounted prices may be added. To help shoppers find any other items they might be interested in, there are quick find and standard search tools (the former of which allows for searches by price, size, brand or category), and an unmissable navigation filled with over-sized, brightly coloured, product icons.

Today, in part due to the way the system is designed and programmed, and partly due to post-site search engine marketing, the Skate Sale site receives a healthy quantity of orders every day, and boasts top ten positions in Google for some quite hotly-contested key words, including "inline skates", "roller skates", "roller blades" and "ice skates".

If you are looking for an ecommerce website which is ranked highly in search engines and turns visitors into sales, then contact Dusza, the ecommerce specialists, on 0845 094 6442 or email hello@dusza.co.uk.

Bournemouth Clocks Web Design & Content Management

Established in 1949, M C Taylor is a clock and barometer restoration, repair, sales and valuation specialist. It recently celebrated the covetable milestones of its ten thousandth customer, and its sixtieth year in horology.

Over the years, Bournemouth Clocks (by which M C Taylor is also known) has built up an enviable reputation both locally and nationally not only for its honesty and integrity, but for its expertise and experience in the field of timepiece or barometer restoration and repair. After initially consulting on other projects, Bournemouth Clock's owner asked Dusza to put together a new design for its web site.

The brief was clear: it needed to be modern in terms of its functionality, whilst being simple to operate (and update for its owners); and traditional and authoritative in appearance, without verging on austere.

To ensure the new site ably reflected the shop's standing as noteworthy specialists in high quality craftsmanship, complementary gold hues were added to the original site's colour scheme of black and deep red. Further graduated tones and highlights were added to serif type captions, headings and logos to add a further touch of class and elegance. The graduated background wallpaper pattern lends the overall look an antique-like appearance.

In terms of its function, the fundamental reason for the site re-design was to generate more enquiries, be it for sales, repairs or evaluations. To help with the latter, Dusza developed an online valuation service. With this form-based tool, customers who are not local to the high street shop can still receive qualified valuation for probate or insurance purposes. All they need to do is answer a series of simple questions about their timepiece, which are presented in an easy-to-understand form, and submit the enquiry with a photograph or two. Evaluations, or e-valuations, are sent back via e-mail for a nominal fee.

A further standard enquiry page, and a quick contact form that appears on almost every other page, has also contributed to improving upon the number of customers getting in touch via the web site.

One other noteworthy feature of the site is the stock list. Here, Bournemouth Clocks can organise its clocks, barometers and other sale items into unlimited categories, and even add buy it now PayPal functionality to the pages, where required. This has also helped to improve Bournemouth Clock's overall sales.

Your Meal Ticket CRM System

Yourmealticket.co.uk is a locally-focused restaurant listings web site with a catchment area that encompasses the sprawling conurbations of Bournemouth, Poole and Christchurch in Dorset.

Its unique selling point is to offer discount vouchers and news of special offers and events to its users. As well as downloadable/printable vouchers, the site contains comprehensive details about the venues, including contact information, opening times, special features and listings for forthcoming events.

Originally launched in September 2009, Yourmealticket enlisted the help of Dusza in February of the following year to help evolve the features on its web site. In particular, Yourmealticket required a Client Relationship Management (CRM) system that would allow the listed restaurants access to the site content via secure password-protected log-ins. This would enable the venues to keep their own profiles, photographs and contact information up-to-date. Venues also had to be able to upload menus as PDFs, and create unlimited numbers of special offer coupons for site visitors to download.

Dusza built all of this functionality into a brand new, content-managed web site, complete with comprehensive statistics reporting (right down to which individual offers have been accessed) and a refreshed look. As well as allowing updates of the content on the venue's profile page, restaurant owners can also upload multiple menus as PDFs, and manage their own selection of special offers (including setting expiry dates, codes, and specifying the offer type) and special events via the new CRM.

Now that advertisers are able to log-in and edit information for themselves, it has meant there has been a marked increase in the frequency that content is renewed, resulting in better search engine ranking and an overall increase in web traffic to the site.

For existing advertisers, the updated site provides even better value-for-money because it effectively puts each venue in complete control of its own profile, allowing it to update as and when required without incurring any further financial costs. Additional advertisers have also been attracted to join the site, drawn in by the new features and the ease of which it is able to sign-up for an account with Yourmealticket.

Do you need an online system that allows clients access to edit content on your web site?
Mountain Leap Brand Design

Mountain Leap Events is a business-to-business provider of bespoke corporate events in the Alps. It plans, organises and executes team building exercises, skiing weekends and other similar corporate hospitality events for both small businesses and international blue chip companies alike, all in a number of breathtaking destinations in France, Austria, Italy, Sweden and Switzerland.

The company approached Dusza when it required a complete re-brand. Amongst other things, Moutain Leap requested a new logo; one that was "slick" and better able to present the company as a provider of corporate solutions. Of course, it also needed to emphasise the company's unique selling point of offering this service exclusively within the alpine region.

The logo Dusza created comprises a handful of irregular shapes that combine to form the peaks of a mountain top range. This shape arrangement also suggests a folded or unfolding sheet of paper indicative of its corporate client base. Also, like Origami, put in capable hands, this paper can be organised into a beautiful arrangement. This aptly describes the essence of Mountain Leap's core offerings.

To reinforce the graphical elements of the logo, the company name is set below using a simple, classic Futura typeface. Not only does this type have a to-the-point characteristic, it also has prominent peaks and slopes that complement the mountain range motif above.

Stone Vine & Sun HTML Email Design & Content Management

Established in 2002, Stone, Vine & Sun is a Winchester-based mail order wine merchant. It travels far and wide to seek out new and interesting wines from Europe and the New World wine countries and has grown a fabulous reputation for its award-winning wines.

Occasionally, Stone, Vine & Sun introduce new wines to its catalogue and run promotions for these and existing products. In order for Stone, Vine & Sun to inform its customers about these new additions and offers, Dusza built an HTML e-mail management module into its eCommerce solution.

Dusza designed and programmed a visually-rich and engaging HTML template (based upon the web site's banner graphic) into which the shop owners can add details of the offer or news item, as well as insert product photography. HTML e-mails are more suited to marketing messages than the standard variety because they provide support for formatting and semantic mark-up capabilities that would not otherwise be available in plain text. For example, HTML e-mails allow the programmer to create a template that includes a graphical button which, when clicked upon, will take the reader to Stone, Vine & Sun's online shop.

Although there is no defined standard for HTML e-mail, most modern applications and web-mail services can read (and default to) this format. For those that don't, Stone, Vine & Sun's HTML e-mails are programmed to degrade gracefully in text-only mail applications, and contain a link to a web page where recipients can view the full graphic version.

The delivery of these marketing e-mails are monitored and reported on by Stone, Vine & Sun's eCommerce system. It can inform the site administrator when and if e-mails have been delivered and read, and when and if the recipient used the button link in the message to click through to the site. These reports enable Stone, Vine & Sun to better gauge the success of its marketing campaigns.

Do you need help with your digital marketing strategy?
Presentation Media Ecommerce Web Design & Content Management

Presentation Media is a company based in Christchurch, Dorset providing presentation and teaching solutions to Education, Government and Corporate Sectors.

Trading since 2001, Presentation Media has established a well-respected service to schools and businesses throughout the UK, especially within the Dorset, Wiltshire and Hampshire areas. Presentation Media offers a complete solution, from demonstrations, consultation on bespoke solutions, supply of equipment, through to final installation and commissioning, including training on the use of equipment.

When Presentation Media approached Dusza for some help with its eCommerce, it already had an online shop built using Actinic software. However, it needed a more exciting and dynamic design, and additional features not already present in the existing solution to help better manage the hundreds of products in its catalogue.

Dusza developed a completely bespoke web site for Presentation Media. Products were re-organised into new, more descriptive, top-level categories to make it easier for customers to find what they need (a site-wide search is also included). Product areas can now all be accessed from the main navigation menu, which expands to three levels deep. There is also an additional sub-navigation on the left hand side of the page which displays links to all of the other sub-categories within the currently selected area, thus making jumping between related categories even quicker and more convenient for users.

The checkout process has been refined too into a series of simple steps: customer details are entered; basket content is confirmed; and payments made and verified (using either SagePay for secure credit card transactions, or via a bespoke "invoice with order" system). Once registered as a customer, address details are pre-filled, enabling customers to quickly move on to confirming the order and entering payment details. Customer accounts are set-up automatically the first time the checkout process is invoked. Within the password-protected account area, customers may amend their own details, review and track the progress of orders placed on the site, or even print copies of order in detail.

Presentation Media's new site features a comprehensive Content Management System (CMS) to enable its administrator to maintain the product catalogue, review and process orders, and manage content on all of the information pages on the site. Because its products are wide and varied, Presentation Media also needed a postage rate system that could be flexible. Within the CMS, administrators can set-up an unlimited number of postage rates and rules which are automatically applied to a customer's basket based upon the types of items inside.

In addition to the giant rotating banner, there is a further customisable advertising space within the left-hand navigation (replaced by the shopping basket preview when items are added to it), plus the option to add up to five extra mini advertisements under the main banner. The latter are ideal for highlighting special offers, key services and new products. Within the CMS, admin users can monitor the effectiveness of advertising campaigns, because statistics for banner impressions and click-throughs are recorded. Banners may be switched on or off as required, and can also be set-up to start and end on user-configurable dates (for running limited time offers).

In fact, the emphasis of the new web site is very much on generating sales. For example, up to twenty products of the shop owner's choosing can be featured on the home page, encouraging customers to start shopping the moment that they arrive. The site even has a related items feature which enables administrators to link together associated products. On the front-end, related items are listed alongside the main item's description, thus exposing customers to products of interest that they might not have otherwise considered purchasing.

Each product is able to have an unlimited number of images associated with it. On the detail page, thumbnail versions of the product photographs are all grouped together to form an interactive gallery element. Pointing at a thumbnail, shows the graphic in the larger preview; clicking on that preview opens the image in a full-size pop-out box.

Presentation Media's staff can also add variations of a product to the catalogue (sizes, colours, styles), and store information such as the supplier, brand, product type, stock (the shop can be set to remove items that are low or out of stock). As well as automatically feeding product information to Google's shopping channel, site administrators can also improve the natural ranking of product pages by editing the optional keyword and description meta tags.

If you are looking for an ecommerce website which is easy to use for both you and your customers, then contact Dusza, the ecommerce specialists, on 0845 094 6442 or email hello@dusza.co.uk.

Xsien CRM System & Workflow Management

XSiEN is a small, highly skilled design and development team with a solid background in building user friendly, accessible and intelligent Management Systems. It developed the XSiEN Management Systems (XMS) suite of software tools in partnership with Dusza.

XMS is set of online powerful management tools specifically for small to medium sized construction companies, and is designed to better assist companies with staff management, tendering and estimating, and quality control. XSiEN has successfully built XMS tender management systems for a number of top UK house builders.

The XMS has many advantages over paper based systems and other software. A core advantage is that the XMS streamlines the way in which data is input so that it relies less on the user having to insert the same data into different modules (thus reducing the risks of input error). The user interface has been designed more in-line with a desktop operating system such as Windows Vista or Mac OSX than an online product to make it as intuitive as possible to use. The XMS is programmed to be easily accessible for the user and extremely versatile.

Being based solely online, the XMS has another key advantage over paper- or other software-based systems in that multiple users can log on at any one time from any device, and in any location. The "PDA mode" can even be run on any mobile phone or PDA that operates Internet Explorer CE, making it convenient for sub-contractors to make changes to the system whilst on site. Because the XMS is online, the data is always up to date.

It is not designed to be a one-stop solution for creating the ultimate paper-less office environment, and as such will not remove 100% of a company's paper-based activities. What the XMS excels at however is negating repetitive tasks, bringing important actionable information to you (rather than you having to search for it), and increasing the quality and quantity of communication between the company, its office and site staff.

Do you need an online system that will help you to better manage your client communications and workflow?
Blessed George Napier School Web Design, Development & CMS

Inspired by the life of Christ, Blessed George Napier (BGN) is a Catholic School and Sixth Form College in Oxfordshire whose aim is to help students learn and develop as a faith community.

BGN is also a Sports College and in 2007 was granted Higher Performing School Status. In 2006 OFSTED said of BGN, "It is a good school with outstanding features". BGN's aim is to make the school "outstanding". In 2005, BGN chose Dusza to assemble its first, largely static web site (with limited content managed areas).

Since that time, BGN has placed increased emphasis on its excellence in technology, and realised it needed to have a web site that aptly reflected this core value. And so when BGN recently commissioned Dusza to design a brochure for its school, it also requested an update to its web site.

It was essential that as well as adopting the same style and imagery as used in its new brochure, the updated web site would be easy to use and enable the various members of staff who are less technologically adept to manage their own areas. Dusza built a content management system with the ability to add as many individual admin users as is necessary, each with assignable access to the main areas within the site.

Another part of the web site brief was that it should work both as an information and learning resource for students (with links to ePortal and eLearning portals), and as a conduit to better communication with their parents. Teachers are able to post notices on the site rather than print and post letters to parents, and essential information such as term dates, timetables, and news are much more easily accessible. Additionally, special or noteworthy occasions may be attached to the built-in calendar module, thus giving site users a clear, graphical representation of any forthcoming events at a glance.

Of course, BGN's new web site is also there to attract prospective students to the school. As such, it contains plenty of material about the school's values, vision, history and curriculum. Information such as applications procedures, course prospectuses and brochures are even available as downloadable PDFs for reading and printing off-line (the CMS enables its administrators to add in as many file downloads as they like).

Does your school or college require an outstanding web design coupled with comprehensive content management facilities? Contact Dusza today on 0845 094 6442 or email hello@dusza.co.uk.

Rage Hair Logo Design

Rage is a contemporary and creative hairdressing salon in Bournemouth, Dorset. It is at the forefront of unique and fashionable hair design, and has a reputation for its dark, edgy styles. The self-titled "band of happy hair hooligans" were semi-finalists in the L'Oreal Colour Trophy in 2009, and have had major coverage in a number of national and international hair magazines.

For Rage, style and image is everything, and so it needed a brand and web site that would live up to these core beliefs. Along with a content managed web site, Dusza delivered a suitable, mostly typographical logo based around the Guilty typeface; a lower case, irregularly sized, serif font, replete with paint splatters, scratches and rough edges.

The "funky and fashionable" logo is often accompanied by the strapline (rendered in the same, but smaller and darker type) "real edgy style" to affirm its ethos. The logo is laregely typographical so that when it is used in context alongside model photography, it is contrasting enough without serving as a distraction to the main focus.

Trasch CRM System

Trasch is a not-for-profit web site, whose purpose is to help facilitate the trading or swapping of unwanted books, furniture, and other equipment between schools, colleges and other educational institutes up and down the country.

The aim of the site is that if a school no longer needs a certain piece of equipment, instead of disposing of the item, the school can advertise it via the Trasch site for free. It can advertise to swap, sell or give away any item without incurring any fees from the Trasch web site. Essentially, "free ads" for schools...

In order to fulfil the required criteria, Dusza proposed building a bespoke Client Relationship Management (CRM) system for Trasch. This proposed system would enable Trasch as owners to have complete control over the entire site's content, but also for other individuals to join, and then manage their own information via a password protected log-in.

In terms of the front-end design, Trasch required a site that would positively proclaim its environmentally-friendly message, and be suitable and intuitive to use for both children, as well as teachers and other members of staff. Dusza put together a clean and simple, green-themed layout, with the navigation in two distinct places: at the top for navigating around the Recycle Store and for getting access to your member area; at the bottom for ancillary pages such as FAQs, contact and features

The Recycling Store navigation divides the listings into eighteen different categories which can be used by visitors for idle browsing. There is also a comprehensive search tool for when visitors are looking for something more specific. Alternatively, members can view other profiles via a Google map. This enables members to see in seconds the other local schools or colleges participating in the scheme.

Although non-members can still access the site, read articles, and peruse items in the classified listings, in order to view contact details for sellers, visitors must be signed in with a Trasch account. Any individual, school or organisation can sign-up for a free account in minutes. Once logged in, members not only get access to contact details for any of the listings advertised, they may also add their own.

From within a member's profile, it may edit and amend its own information and contact details, as well as upload a photograph or organisation logo. Members are allowed to list an unlimited number of items for sale, swap or to giveaway. From within its profile, a member can organise his or her classified listings. For each entry, spaces are provided to write short and long descriptions (plus optional features list), and to upload up to five different photographs. Other options are configured using easy-to-use pull-down menus (parameters such as price, condition, postage, and payment options), including the category in which the item should be listed. For items that cross between categories, the CRM system enables members to choose an additional two sub-categories.

As well as managing all of that member information, the CRM system can also be called upon to send password reminders to those who have forgotten theirs. Passwords can also be changed by members when they are logged into their profiles.

Site administrators have access to all of the member account information (apart from log-in passwords) via the back-end of the Trasch CRM. As well as being able to moderate any information that members themselves have added, site administrators can also temporarily suspend members or individual listings within their accounts (useful if community rules are broken, or a listing contains offensive material), or even prevent a member from logging in altogether. Of course, as with all of Dusza's other web site systems, the site administrator can also edit, add or delete any of the other content areas within Trasch too, including news, features and FAQs.

The success of Trasch is entirely dependent on getting a large volume of schools to register and use the site. Consequently, Dusza designed the site to be as easy-to-use as possible; to build a quick and simple sign-up process; to program a site that works as well in older, non-standards compliant browsers like Internet Explorer 6 (popular with educational institutes), as it does in newer software.

Do you need an online system that allows clients access to edit content on your web site?
Hair Goddess Ecommerce Web Design, Development & CMS

Hair Goddess is a UK-based company that designs and manufactures hair straightening products for the consumer market and salons alike.

Taking the concept of luxurious hair care to a stunning new level, HG's products are designed to bring salon styling within easy reach to the consumer. Featuring the highest quality floating ceramic tourmaline plates, HG's straighteners heat up rapidly, can be adjusted to different temperatures, and distribute heat evenly for gorgeous silky straight styles, luscious curls, waves and flicks.

In September 2008, Hair Goddess chose Dusza to design and develop its eCommerce web site, as well as carry out a programme of search engine marketing to help raise the company profile. A sleek, white-on-black colour scheme with grey and faded highlights was chosen for the overall design because it not only best reflected the company's luxurious brand image, but it also enables the product photography to really stand out from the page.

In terms of functionality, the new eCommerce site has a number of key modules. These include: Product, Stock, Order, Customer, Advertising, and Promotion Management. The Product Management module enables site administrators to add or amend information pertaining to the hair straighteners in its shop, including description and specifications, as well as upload an unlimited number of photographs. Within the Stock Management module, staff can set-up rules so that the site automatically removes items that are out of stock from the shop front, and alerts the site admin when stocks are low.

The Order module keeps a permanent record of all activity within the shop. It enables HG's staff to view at-a-glance all of its orders (or to filter them depending on status), to process payments, and deal with any specific enquiries received via its online contact form.

To make buying goods from the web site as effortless as possible, an account is automatically created the first time an order is made by a customer. Within the password-protected account area, customer billing and delivery details are stored, alongside a complete record of all order activity. Both customers and the site administrator are able to access and update this information. Customers may also use their account to view the progress of an order, and track the consignment once it has been dispatched.

The site has the ability to manage unlimited numbers of discount codes too. Hair Goddess can set-up codes for individuals that may only be redeemed once, or codes that can be sent to all customers in a special offer mail-out. In either case, the system has further criteria that may be optionally set to ensure a voucher is only used in conjunction with certain products, within a given time frame, and only when a minimum spend is met.

There are several areas within the layout of the site that may be used by the site owner to post advertising messages or banners. In particular, the home page features a generously-sized carousel gently fading through a series of photographs depicting the latest products. But it isn't just for self-promotion. These areas can also be used for inserting affiliate or other company advertisements, enabling HG to generate additional revenue from its eCommerce site, or to enable it to participate in banner exchange programmes for additional promotion.

If you are looking for an ecommerce website which is easy to use for both you and your customers, then contact Dusza, the ecommerce specialists, on 0845 094 6442 or email hello@dusza.co.uk.

Kavell Logo Design

Kavell Civil Engineering is a specialist provider of groundwork services in Dorset. Renowned for its ability to deliver projects on time, in budget and to impeccable standards of workmanship, Kavell has an impressive list of clients for its civil engineering business.

Kavell consulted Dusza for a complete overhaul of its marketing strategy, which included development of a new web site and branding. The logo Dusza designed for Kavell is based around a two-colour icon comprising a 'K' character rotated 90° anti-clockwise, with a 'V' nestled on top. These two letters, which are the initials of the two business owners, Vaughn and Knight, combine to form a downward pointing chevron pattern, thus reinforcing Kavell's core ground work business.

Uppercase text is used for the logo throughout to imbue it with a sturdy, dependable and robust disposition. A slightly thinner, open-spaced type is used for the 'Civil Engineering' part of the company name, which runs underneath along the same horizontal baseline as the stem of the rotated 'K' character.

The three principal colours used (orange, black and white) in combination are indicative of construction and groundworks, and also help to make the logo stand out even on muddy vehicles. The three colours are interchangeable too, depending on the application and the colour of the background on which the logo sits. For example, on its orange vehicles, the 'V' is rendered in white, with the remainder of the text and logo in black.

Interested in a Dusza Logo Design?
Cleaning Services Group Web Development, Design & CMS

The Cleaning Services Group (CSG) provide a wide range of specialist, industrial, commercial and domestic cleaning services throughout most of the UK. CSG provide a national service whilst maintaining a local touch. It does this by gathering together a unique team of sub-contractors from all around the country, which it remotely manages from its hub in Bournemouth.

One of the key requirements for CSG's new web site was that it should perform well in the natural listings of search engines for cleaning and cleaning service related searches. In order to do this, Dusza built the Cleaning Services Group a fully-content managed web site, complete with tools for the site administrators to edit search engine critical stuff, like web page titles, Meta keywords and descriptions.

The site was also structured to enable its owners to build a huge repository of articles and content unique to each location in which the CSG operates in the UK. This way, the Cleaning Services Group is far more likely to appear in localised searches for cleaning companies. In order to further disseminate this local information pertaining to the Cleaning Services Group, RSS feeds were set-up for news and articles sections.

Cleanliness is obviously of great importance for such a company, and this quality needed to manifest itself in the design. Zesty and fresh, and synonymous with cleaning and cleaning-related products, the CSG logo already integrates a citrus fruit slice graphic. This motif was duplicated and used throughout the web site, in particular for the services navigation. The remainder of the site remains simply laid-out, and largely white with just a few muted grey tones where there are obvious calls to action, such as the site search and quick quote enquiry form.

Does your company require a web presence that properly reflects its core offerings and vision?
LJ Construction Brand Design

LJ Construction is an established, thriving and award-winning carpentry contractors based in the West Midlands, and working in partnership with major house builders such as Barratts, Taylor Wimpey and David Wilson. It required a new identity that would help better align itself more with these house developers and away from traditional, less technologically-adept carpentry companies.

And so its new branding needed to be slick and modern. The logo and look of the web site required something that would be more befitting of a company committed to innovative use of technology to help bring more efficiency to its working practices, to make improvements in health and safety, and to help it continue to deliver consistently high quality work.

In the logo design that Dusza created as part of a complete re-branding package, the 'L' and 'J' characters of the company name join together to form the floor and upright walls of a simple, but immediately recognisable, house outline shape. It makes an obvious link to LJ's business in building structural walls and floors for homes. A more subtle reference to the company's environmental credentials can be found in the choice of the soft, calming green used to colour the house shape.

Bliss type was chosen over a more anodyne sans-serif typeface for the text below not only for its timeless quality, but also because its appearance is slightly more modern and quirky than standard Helvetica type.

Nordic Surgical Web Design, Development & CMS

Nordic Surgical is a UK-based distributor of surgical and medical products throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In particular, it distributes its own range of medical clogs, and supplies air-free patient warming products manufactured by Hot Dog.

Nordic Surgical required a website to showcase these and other products to prospective customers in a professional and easy to understand manner. Dusza built a content managed web site for Nordic Surgical that would not only enable the owner to add to, delete from, and modify the product catalogue for itself (and all of the other pages within the site), but that would also manage its web enquiries and quote requests, and log site visits and usage.

Dusza even programmed some simple eCommerce functionality into the product pages utilising PayPal technology, thus enabling Nordic to add PayPal buttons and sell items directly from its web site. To further emphasise its products, every page in the site contains its own special showcase column, into which the site administrator can display up to five items from any in the catalogue.

Design-wise, the site is appropriately themed for a surgical supplies, being predominantly clean and white, with subtle, grey background gradients and crisp dividing lines. Below the brightly coloured main navigation and site banner (designed to draw the visitor's attention to the main site navigation), there is plenty of negative space to allow room for the unlimited number of photographs per product to stand out from the rest of the page content. Clicking on product photos also invokes a pop-up full-size image, giving customers the opportunity to see products in even more detail.

Do you need a decent web site to promote your company's products and services?
Marine Projects Logo Design

Marine Projects is a company based in Poole, Dorset that specialises in all aspects of marine maintenance for both the private and business sectors. A warm, approachable company, and highly knowledgeable in its field, Marine Projects has a wide network of contacts within the Poole Harbour area, and more than twenty six years' experience in providing services to boat owners, whether sail or powered, luxury or work launches.

The company initially approached Dusza for a website and business cards, but as part of the development process it became apparent that the original logo needed some refinement, too.

Dusza took the original swooping sail motif, reduced the opacity, and added a second, larger less opaque spinnaker, giving the impression of movement and perspective. The two sails combine to add a greater sense of power and size, but also an 'M' shape which helps to build a seamless link with the characters in the text below.

A clean and professional looking sans-serif typeface was chosen for the text. The type also continues the same two-tone colour scheme as the sails which, while adding specific emphasis to "Marine", also nicely ties together the entire logo. The blue and white colour scheme used has obvious water and marine connotations. The optional strapline below further impresses the company's core business offerings.

Think Family Tree Website

Think Family Tree is a family run company based in Wareham, Dorset, near the historical ruins of Corfe Castle. It specialises in family tree and probate research (in a similar way to the BBC television programme "Heir Hunters").

Think Family Tree has many years of experience in probate genealogy, and offers its clients a professional and considerate service, where any information is treated with the utmost discretion.

In addition to designing a logo and branding for Think Family Tree, Dusza also put together a complementary static XHTML web site so that it could promote its research services and personalised family tree gifts online. It required no content management system, only a handful of fixed pages to describe its three core services.

Each page does however contain a quick contact form, prominently placed in the top banner, so that interested visitors can send an enquiry from anywhere on the site. The remainder of this banner is taken up with suitably themed artwork, including old family portrait photographs (supplied by the company owners), and a cut-out paper chain of stick folk, all of which act to reinforce the themes of family ties and genealogy.

The bubbly tree motif in the logo is re-used in a number of graphical elements on the site too, including in amongst the services sub-navigation. This is designed to imbue Think Family Tree's web site with a less solemn disposition than other companies offering similar services. Think is friendlier, more approachable and family focused, whilst remaining professional.

Does your company require a web presence that properly reflects its core offerings and vision?
Wish Meadow Logo Design

Wish Meadow is a business consultancy specialising in information technology, telecommunications and the media. With many years of experience in these sectors, Wish Meadow has established industry wide relationships at all levels, and helps companies to connect, partner and collaborate to achieve both immediate and longer term objectives.

It approached Dusza for a creative brand identity that encapsulated these core values and services. As a business consultancy, Wish Meadow were immediately excited by Dusza's concept of planting and growing ideas. This was further developed into a dandelion motif, partly inspired by company name and the childhood memories conjured by the term "wish meadow", and partly because as a plant species, dandelions are versatile and adaptable plants that will easily seed themselves and flourish almost anywhere. This is directly comparable to the service of Wish Meadow.

The logo Dusza designed for Wish Meadow combines a traditional illustration of a dandelion, its stalk protruding between the two words in the logo, with a slight glow to emphasise the special nature of making a wish. The colour palette used is simple, natural and striking with the green and blue representing the lush meadow and blue sky.

The typography is a slightly modified version of Myriad Pro where the edges have been roundeded to remove the harshness. Upper case type is used to ensure a corporate business-to-business feel.

Maven Audio Visual Web Design, Development & CMS

Maven specialises in high quality audio/visual and home automation designs and installations. Vastly experienced, and with an established reputation for quality and excellence, Maven is able to undertake projects of any size and budget in house, from straightforward small home cinema installations to multi-room set-ups incorporating integrated audio, visual and lighting systems.

Maven required a slick and contemporary web site that would showcase its bespoke home cinema installations, and generate business from new leads. To help to attract the right kind of clientele, it also needed a site that would perform well in search engines for key phrases and search terms.

Dusza designed and built Maven a completely bespoke web site that included a content management system. This enables Maven to add, edit or remove pages within the products, services, showcase and about us areas of the web site. Photographs, and video clips hosted on YouTube, can be added to any article, and these are all styled automatically to fit into the web site design, maintaining the same slick, minimal appearance throughout.

Maven's experience and its portfolio of past projects are its strongest selling points to potential clients, and this is underlined via the showcase section. Here, each showcase item has its own page, comprising a detailed description and extensive photo gallery. The descriptions often highlight Maven's expertise in working with the user to develop the perfect solution to prove the effectiveness of its consultancy service.

As with the other key content areas in the site, Maven also has the ability to add YouTube videos to each showcase item, which can be utilised to present virtual tours of showcase installations. The site's main heading banner also contains some remarkable and aspirational installations from Maven's client portfolio to further emphasise the quality of its work.

If you are looking for a cool web site design, which can be easily maintained and kept up-to-date, then contact Dusza on 0845 094 6442 or email hello@dusza.co.uk.

Pine Lodge Brand Design

Pine Lodge IFA provide easy to understand independent financial advice to everyone. Whether advice is sought for investments, pensions, protection, inheritance tax planning or mortgages, Pine Lodge aim to dispense its wisdom in an approachable, friendly, and jargon-free manner.

As a start-up business, Pine Lodge IFA required a complete branding solution from Dusza. As well as business cards and stationery design, this also included a brand new logo. The business name itself was actually adapted from the building in which the company operates, and provided Dusza with an immediate starting point for the new brand.

A cut-out shape style illustration of a pine cone was created for use both as the main icon in the logo, and also as the basis of a background for other artwork. As well as the literal reference to the company name, the pine cone also suggests growth (something all financial advisers are keen to do with funds), and the squirrelling away of supplies for the future. The darker tone along the bottom of the icon also gives the cone's appearance a hint of acorn; a metaphor prevalent throughout much of the financial sector.

A serif type gives the identity a classic appearance; of long-standing repute and trustworthiness. Adapted from an inscription on the base of the Trajan column in Rome, the Trajan Pro type is used to excellent effect, lending suitable gravitas to the logo.

Blues & Soul Web Design, Development & CMS

Blues & Soul is the definitive online destination for news of Blues, Soul, Hip-Hop, R'n'B, House and Dance music. Published fortnightly, Blues & Soul's online magazine covers all of the latest UK and US urban music information, including news, charts, reviews, events and clubs, as well as in-depth interviews and editorial on influential artists past and present.

First published in 1966, Dusza helped bring this well-established, forty year old music magazine into the 21st century, wrenching it from its paper-based origins to publishing exclusively online via a fully-content managed web site. With over a thousand back issues in its archive, Blues & Soul's new web site need to be able to deliver huge volumes of content to its readers, without the need for complicated navigation.

A core objective was to retain a 'magazine feel' in terms of look and functionality, in order to help readers make the evolutionary transition from print to web. As such, the new site included a magazine-style mast-head (just as you'd find in a newsstand publication) containing the B&S logo, main feature headlines and photography of the issue's featured artist.

All of the latest and most relevant information is then made available to the reader immediately below. Readers can browse articles by type (news, reviews, features and suchlike), and then use the genre navigation to sieve out only items of interest to their particular musical taste.

Another goal of the new Blues and Soul was to improved listings on search engines, including Google, Yahoo! and Bing. Achieving great search engine exposure in the organic results has lead to Blues & Soul receiving higher numbers of visitors, and as a consequence, it has been able to generate additional revenue through advertising and sponsorship opportunities.

Data capture was also targeted as a priority, so that in the future Blues and Soul would have a vast database at whom to market offers, competitions, news releases, and products.

For Blues & Soul, Dusza proposed a phased approach: get the basic foundations right and then build on them. As a result, Dusza has continued to support the B&S web site and regularly adds in new, and increasingly interactive, features. One such exciting new development will be an eCommerce platform to enable Blues & Soul to sell digital downloads (video and audio files, photographs and back issues).

Do you have a magazine or newsletter you want to put on the web? Contact Dusza today on 0845 094 6442 or email hello@dusza.co.uk and let us help you bring your publication into the 21st century.

The G&H Group Brand Design

The G&H Group is an independent construction company based in Bournemouth, Dorset. Trading for more than a century, the company has continued to grow upon its enviable reputation and pedigree for delivering high quality commercial buildings and renovation projects across all building methods, from traditional brick and mortar to modular building systems.

When it decided to modernise its branding, the G&H Group commissioned Dusza to produce a range of stationery, brochures, folders, CDs, exhibition displays, and vehicle wraps, as well as a completely new web site. As part of the design brief it was important that the re-branding honour the company's one hundred and forty year heritage whilst at the same time, showcasing it as an innovative, twenty-first century business.

Dusza devised an uncomplicated logo consisting of only the company name's letters and, almost as importantly, the year in which the company was established. The "1867" text is positioned between the "G" and "H", providing both a raised platform upon with the smaller ampersand character can sit (aligning it perfectly with the top of the logo), and as a metaphor for the historic foundation upon which the company has been built.

The Helvetica bold type presents the G&H Group as a sturdy, solid, and reliable company. To project the company's co-operative, personable and approachable characteristics, the harsh corners of the 'G' and 'H' characters are nicely rounded. The original red was adjusted slightly to help position G&H as a modern and distinctive business within the construction industry.

Tekniche Recruitment Web Design, Development & CMS

Tekniche is a specialist recruitment and technology solutions company, providing expert support to secure the best people for the aviation, construction, engineering, Facilities Management, IT and rail industries in the UK, Europe and Asia.

Tekniche wanted a web site that would more accurately represent the company as an international recruitment specialist. As such, the web site designed needed to be more modernised and corporate in appearance, with business-like efficiency and simplicity in navigation. Tekniche also wanted to be able to keep its website up-to-date for itself, in particular managing the list of available positions, adding news stories and client testimonials.

The web site has two main focuses: clients and candidates. For clients, the web site should provide industry news, and information about Tekniche and its services to employers, including testimonials. For candidates, the area of the site that has most value is vacancies. As well as ensuring that it easy to find as much information pertaining to the vacancy of interest, it must also be easy to apply via the web site.

Dusza created a bespoke content managed web site for Tekniche, evolving the design from its original web site. The corporate colour scheme remained largely in place, and only slight refinements were made to the logo. The most substantial changes were made to the navigation and page layouts. In particular, the re-designed site has an impressive banner that gracefully fades between imagery depicting the specialist areas and locations where Tekniche actively recruits.

The navigation lays underneath this banner. Although the main navigation buttons provide visitors with the quickest way to reach every area of the site, there are additional navigation elements and calls to action elsewhere, too. For example, present at the foot of every page is a Job Search tool, plus linked snippets from the various client testimonials, and a synopsis of the three latest vacancies advertised on the site. Additionally, the "Markets" section (which looks a little like a tag cloud) lists the different sectors in which job positions are available. The sector names get proportionately larger as the list of positions increases.

With the ability to update almost every part of the web site using its Content Management System, the content is kept fresh. This in turn gives more incentive for repeat visits, but also helps improve the site's position in organic keyword searches in Google and other search engines.

If you are looking for a professional looking web site design, which you can keep up-to-date for yourself, contact Dusza on 0845 094 6442 or email hello@dusza.co.uk.

Griffin Underwriting Website Design & Content Management System

Griffin Underwriting is a specialist insurer dealing with a select range of insurance products, including Kidnap and Ransom, Marine Hijacking, Fine Art and Disability.

Griffin was founded by Jeff Green and Imogen Lyndon Skeggs, two of the most experienced specialists in the field of Kidnap Insurance (both are former employees of Lloyd's). Together, they have been actively involved with Kidnap and Ransom Insurance, and Personal Accident Insurance for over 50 years. The company approached Dusza to update its current web site to add support for multiple languages, and to add in the ability for Griffin to content manage the site for themselves.

Dusza re-designed the site with a cleaner, more simplified layout, whilst at the same time taking great care to incorporate elements and colours from the old design so as to provide some consistency in the change-over period. The design utilises the corporate colours in blocks to act as divisions between the main elements of the page layout.

The new site also has a content management system (CMS) bolted on to it, which provides Griffin with the tools to edit text, banner graphics, as well as insert photographs and downloadable documents into the sub-category areas.

Although Dusza programmed the ability to manage multiple language pages from within the CMS itself, multi-lingual support on the front-end is provided using Google's translator tool. This enables visitors to switch the language for the entire web site from its default English, into any number of languages (Chinese, Japanese, Portuguese or Spanish are included here), just by selecting a quick menu option. This gives the site a truly international flavour, and makes the information more easily accessible for non-English speaking clients.

Does your company require a web presence that effectively and appropriately promotes its services?
Chef Leanna Web Design, Development & CMS

Chef Leanna offers delicious, home-made, health-conscious meals delivered to its clients' doors. The company required a small web site to promote its exclusive service to prospective customers in the local area, as well as to provide existing customers an opportunity to view forthcoming menus.

Dusza created a budget, mini-site that fulfilled its needs. The site comprises two main areas. Firstly, the home page, which is fixed (as such it cannot be modified by the site owner). This displays general information about Chef Leanna and the service, a synopsis of the menus and kinds of foods on offer and, most importantly of all, how to order. This section also prominently displays the company contact details in several places to encourage prospective customers to get in touch.

The second area is the Menus page. Unlike the home area, this is a content managed page, and so the administrator is able to log-in and edit the text content via the CMS. This enables Chef Leanna to keep its menu listings up-to-date with the latest tasty offerings.

If you are looking for a professional web presence at a budget price then contact Dusza on 0845 094 6442 or email hello@dusza.co.uk.

Wow Factor Coaching Web Design, Development & CMS

The WOW Factor is a consultancy company that provides people in business with expert advice, training and coaching on delivering effective presentations and speeches.

Founder and expert communications consultant, Rob Geraghty, required a web presence for his start-up company and commissioned Dusza to build him a bespoke, content managed web site. The web site's principle purpose is to build The WOW Factor as a brand, reinforced by Rob Geraghty as a personality. Initially, visitors and the potential client base might come from word-of-mouth referrals, and from direct correspondence with The Wow Factor. With this in mind, the web site's aim is to convert these visitors into active business leads.

As a major proposition of the business concerns oral communication, Rob believed that there needed to be plenty of video-based content on the website. Visitors and prospective clients would need to see Rob in action, both to learn something about who he is and, by working with The Wow Factor, how it might improve their own presentation skills.

The site Dusza built for the WOW Factor has exceptional design-led qualities, including considerations for unique aesthetics, brand positioning and engaging video functionality. A combination of bold white text on black for navigational elements, coupled with vibrant graduated red tones in the background gives the desired "wow factor" appearance. Body text is reversed so that it is presented in an easy to read black on white colour scheme.

Built into the web site is a comprehensive Content Management System (CMS). This enables the site owner to have complete control over the key content areas, including the services, resources, testimonials, and company information. Multiple video clips and images may be associated with any page in the CMS. With the CMS, the site administrator can also adjust the Meta content and titles of pages to make them more search engine friendly.

Whilst being heavily brand led, the website has a personable, friendly and innovative tone and this is achieved particularly through the use of Rob's presentation videos. It also establishes a confidence and legitimacy in the visitor through its professionalism, engaging design elements and focused services.

If you are looking for a web site which delivers your powerful message, contact Dusza the web site specialists on 0845 094 6442, or email hello@dusza.co.uk.

M&N Heating & Plumbing Website Development

M&N Heating and Plumbing is an established publishing and heating provider for both the domestic market and large house building companies within the region.

Based in Banbury in Oxfordshire, M&N has more than thirty years of experience of delivering competitive and affordable plumbing services, and has a terrific reputation for quality and service.

When M&N required a new web presence, it contacted Dusza. The brief outlined a site that would be used primarily as a way of communicating with existing and potential customers, but also as a way of broadcasting M&N's own mission and vision statements, and of course its products and services, to the wider public.

In order that M&N's own staff could update the content for themselves, Dusza built the site around its Star Content Management System (CMS) framework. In doing so, it provided M&N with complete control over all of the content within the site.

From managing key contacts through to amending price lists, every last facet can be edited. The CMS even includes an area where customers can leave feedback and request quotes or call-backs, and another where M&N can advertise vacancies and properly manage any applications it receives. Another feature of the CMS is the ability to edit Meta keywords and descriptions, and to modify each of the page titles to optimise them for search engines.

The design itself is awash with white space, giving the site a clear and professional appearance, and setting a tone appropriate for its target audience. It utilises a blue and grey corporate-style colour palette.

Whilst all of the site is easily accessible via the main navigation bar placed prominently at the top of the page, the CMS also enables the site administrator to choose three aspects from the services area to promote in their own advertising spaces. The main banner on the home page can also be set via the CMS to scroll gently through four different service types. These two areas enable M&N to actively promote services befitting the time of year (for example, promoting boiler and heating maintenance in winter).

Does your company require a web presence that effectively and appropriately promotes its services?
Butterfly Bakery Web Design, Development & CMS

The Butterfly Bakery is a small, friendly bakery based in Bournemouth, Dorset that specialises in deliciously tempting cupcakes for weddings, birthdays and other special occasions.

Cupcakes are hand-made fresh to order, using only the finest ingredients, and customers can choose from a range of fifteen scrumptious flavours, all of which can be customised with an infinite number of design options. As part of an all-encompassing marketing package (which also included print and logo design work), Dusza created a new web site for The Butterfly Bakery so that it could better promote its custom cake-making services to a wider audience.

So that the bakery could keep the content on its site as fresh as the cakes it makes, the package included a bespoke Content Management System (CMS). With this, the site administrators can add or amend the range of flavours, prices and special occasion cakes, whenever required.

Of course, apart from smelling and tasting the cakes, the best way to show off Butterfly Bakery's product range is with a photo gallery. And so the site contains a vast collection of photographs displaying the many bespoke cake designs that the Butterfly Bakery has created for its clients. As with the other sections of the side, the gallery may be maintained by the site owner using the CMS, too.

In terms of the design itself, the site uses a small selection of rich tones, including some hot graduated pinks, but is otherwise largely pale coloured. This way, the viewer's eye is automatically drawn straight to the beautiful product imagery.

A further close-up photograph of a cupcake is used in the generously sized title banner, which is accompanied by a marketing strap-line rendered in hand-written type to emphasise the home-made and bespoke nature of the bakery. This hand-written type theme extends to the company logo and other section headings within the site, helping to build a consistent brand feel throughout.

Do you need a decent web site to promote your company's wares? Contact Dusza today on 0845 094 6442 or email hello@dusza.co.uk.

Print & Packaging Group Web Design, Development & CMS

Print & Packaging Solutions Limited is a UK manufacturer and supplier of paper laminate, polythene, Kraft paper, and cotton bags, based in Southampton, in Hampshire.

The company was formed in 1998 by its two owners, David Page and Andrew Willison, both of whom have considerable experience in print and related trade. It has a production facility in the UK for short runs and fast turnarounds, and for longer and larger runs, factories in Europe and the Far East.

Dusza didn't develop just one site for Print & Packaging, but rather a series of completely content-managed sites. One for each of its bag printing services, and a further group web site that contains core information about the company, including news and client testimonials. Whilst each site shares the same design elements, and uses the same page layout and navigation to provide consistency in user interaction, they are all coloured differently to furnish each with a suitable degree of contrast and variety.

On the landing pages of all the printing sub-sites, thumbnail images and snippets of information are automatically pulled in from that particular product line and presented in an easy-to-navigate catalogue overview. This enables visitors and customers to immediately find the product of interest.

There is also a Featured Product Area, present in the footer of every page, where the site administrator can choose which items are worthy of a little extra promotion. A further area in the title banner may also be used by the site administrator to advertise special offers and other services. As well as managing these areas, the site owners may also update any other content on the site, and manage mailing lists and customer enquiries from its Content Management System (CMS).

Setting up each print service its own sub-site may have been technically quite challenging, but it does have its benefits, especially in terms of search engine marketing (SEM). Now that there are half a dozen print-related sites, with each linking to one another, it gives Print & Packaging a greater chance of appearing in organic search listings in sites like Google, Yahoo! and Bing for related searches.

As a result of this and further SEM consultation with Dusza, Print & Packaging has been able to dramatically reduce its spend on Pay-Per-Click advertising campaigns but without reducing its exposure in search engines or the volume of traffic to its sites.

Do you need a decent web site and effective internet marketing strategy to promote your company's wares?
Xtraordinary People Dyslexia Charity Web Design, Development & CMS

Xtraordinary People is a charitable initiative supported by leading dyslexia charities and famous dyslexics alike. Kate Griggs, herself a diagnosed dyslexic, set up Xtraordinary People, uniting the leading charities (British Dyslexia Association, Dyslexia Action, and PATOSS) in support of her campaign.

The purpose of the charity is to campaign to improve training for teachers to recognise dyslexia in children, and to provide effective support and encourage their strengths. To help promote her message, and help secure funding and support for her cause, Kate approached Dusza to design and build a web site for Xtraordinary People.

Key areas of the site include celebrity galleries (those with dyslexia), news and fundraising details, and other such material pertaining to the charity, as well as general help and advice for those wishing to seek out more information on the condition. There is even a dyslexia test, which asks a series of simple yes or no answered questions, and from this is able to indicate whether a visitor has possible signs of dyslexia.

In order to make things as accessible as possible and easier for sufferers to read articles, the web site has a "dyslexia friendly" mode, in which the colour schemes are altered (reversing the light foreground and dark background colours in standard mode), and text size increased.

To help generate revenue for the cause, the web site has basic eCommerce PayPal functionality so that Xtraordinary People can sell digital downloads of inspirational stories for children to its visitors. Much of this content, including the download shop, can be edited by the administrator using the bespoke content management system built into the site.

Interested in a Dusza Web Design? Get in touch today on 0845 094 6442 or email hello@dusza.co.uk for engaging Web Design and Content Management.

Cleaning Services Group Logo Design

The Cleaning Services Group provides a 'One Stop Shop' cleaning service to the domestic, commercial, leisure, building, retail and industrial sectors.

Dusza carried out a total re-brand for CSG, including all of their sub-brand. Dusza moved away from generic cleaning objects as iconic elements for fear that the CSG brand would be lost in the sea of other cleaning service brands out there. Instead, we wanted the CSG brand to stand out amongst the crowd wherever it is placed.

Dusza utilised a lemon combined with a strong typeface. We chose lemon because it's a clean, sharp tasting fruit which is used heavily in cleaning detergents and air freshening devices. The smell of lemons to our nose receptors triggers a clean and inviting atmosphere.

Marine Projects CMS Web Design, Development & CMS

Marine Projects is a company based in Poole, Dorset that specialises in all aspects of marine maintenance for both the private and business sectors. Highly knowledgeable in its field, Marine Projects has a wide network of contacts within the Poole Harbour area, and more than twenty six years' experience in providing services to boat owners, whether sail or powered, luxury or work launches.

As part of a total branding exercise, Dusza designed and developed a bespoke web site for Marine Projects with a built-in Content Management System to enable its own staff to upload details of recent projects (including photographs as well as text), and client testimonials.

Marine's Project's web site is primarily used to promote its services. As such, it its purpose is to introduce the company and its staff to new and prospective clients and present a good first impression of Marine Projects as a professional, knowledgeable company. It does the latter by providing reference material (in the forms of customer testimonials and project case studies) to demonstrate its credentials as experts in marine technology.

The actual design of the site utilises a simple, box structure, comprising solid colour areas interdispersed with appropriate and colour co-ordinated photography. The graduated blues and white colour combination used throughout the web site has obvious marine and boating connotations, but it also helps to integrate the logo into the design to present a more brand cohesive experience.

Does your company require a web presence to promote its services?
Lexxic Dyslexia Consultancy Web Design, Development & CMS

Lexxic is a consultancy company specialising in providing dyslexia services, focusing in particular on higher education and the workplace. Its workshop, coaching and assessment services are aimed at unlocking the potential of dyslexics, raising the awareness of dyslexia within the workplace, and creating dyslexia friendly environments.

Dusza built a web site for Lexxic as part of a complete branding package. The layout and design of the site was assembled specifically to make it as easy to use for visitors with dyslexia as possible. As such, articles are kept succinct, and placed within clearly defined borders. Users are also able to control the text size (a feature not included in web browsing software when this site was launched), and to reverse the colour palette from its default white and bright yellow text on dark grey, to a more subdued cream background with dark text colour combination.

An intuitive, sliding menu bar labelled clearly in bold type, provides the main navigation for the site. To further simplify the navigation, the menu bar is programmed to remember when sub-navigation areas have been opened, and then continues to keeps them open whilst visitors browse between pages.

Within the site, visitors can find resources related to dyslexia in general (including taking a test to see if they may be affected), plus discover information about Lexxic with a view to using its services. Separate, colour-coded Media and Resources section were also added to the site to enable Lexxic to include newsletters, stories, events and other articles, as well as offer downloads and links to other related web information about dyslexia conferences, blogs online videos, and academic studies.

The site also contains a locations map detailing the areas in which Lexxic offers its services. This, and the resources and services areas amongst other things, can be managed by the Lexxic themselves using the bespoke Content Management System Dusza coded into the site.

Within these sections of the CMS, web administrators are able to re-order, delete, edit or amend the articles as often as required. Additionally, resource items, which include events, article, stores, law, news, and newsletters, can have their own associated image, attachment (Word document or PDF), and a link to an external web site to provide further information, or for linking to a remote download.

Lexxic's CMS also provides statistics so that it can monitor the usefulness of its accessibility features (text enlargement and colour schemes), and also manages a list of subscribers for its periodic newsletter.

Interested in a Dusza Web Design? Get in touch today on 0845 094 6442 or email hello@dusza.co.uk for engaging Web Design and Content Management.

RAW Talent Dance School Web Design, Development & CMS

RAW Talent is a dance school based in Solihull in the West Midlands. It offers private or group lessons for all ages and abilities, and covers a number of dance styles including ballroom, latin, street, hip-hop, disco and wedding dances.

RAW Talent required a web site to showcase its regular lessons and one-off events to prospective clients which encompass a diverse range of people, from parents of school children, through to couples and singletons of varying ages and skill. So that it would appeal to a younger target audience in general, RAW Talent wanted to have a funky and modern looking web presence, and decided in consultation with Dusza to develop a theme using a grey, black and neon colour scheme.

The site design comprises a bright, graphically rich top banner, underneath which sits the site navigation and page content, the latter of which is divided into columns so that news and dance lesson snippets may be previewed on every page. The top banner depicts a series of neon-coloured cut-outs of dancers in various poses that perfectly illustrate some of the types of lessons available at RAW Talent.

To help tie together all of the page elements into a single, cohesive design, the main page headings are written in the same, graffiti-style, neon glow typeface. The body text area continues the same vibrant colour scheme too, utilising neon pink to draw attention to web links and images.

The web site features a Content Management System (CMS) that enables RAW Talent to add, edit, temporarily hide or permanently delete articles within the news and dance lessons areas, as well as update the text and images on the home and other ancillary pages. Additionally, the site administrator can even choose which of these items appear within the news and dance lesson columns on each page.

Within the CMS, RAW Talent can also view web trends and statistics to see how many people are visiting the site (and even how they found it), and read and reply to any correspondence it receives via the site's enquiry form.

If you are looking for a cool web site design, which can be easily maintained and kept up-to-date, then contact Dusza on 0845 094 6442 or email hello@dusza.co.uk.

LJ Construction Web Design, Development & CMS

LJ Construction is an award-winning carpentry contractor based in the West Midlands. It works in partnership with major house builders, including Barratts, Taylor Wimpey and David Wilson.

As well updating its identity, LJ Construction also commissioned Dusza to design and program a completely new web site so that LJ Construction could better align its brand with its building partners. LJ Construction also wanted a presence more befitting of a company committed to the innovative use of technology to help bring more efficiency to its working practices, and a web site that could help it advertise, and continue to deliver, a consistently high quality service to clients.

Dusza's site design included a completely fresh new look. Blending the existing corporate green colour with graduated greys, the layout is rigidly structured into distinct areas, defined with soft, subtle dividing lines and colour blocks. Visitors can navigate their way around the site either using the prominently placed menu bar, a built-in search tool, or via any of the featured items box-outs.

The site includes pre-programmed areas in which LJ Construction can add its own content for FAQs, showcase projects, publications, careers, news, company information and contacts. The careers section enables LJ Construction to advertise vacancies on its site, and it even includes a bespoke carpentry sub-contractor application form. Applicants can all be managed using the web site's built-in Content Management System (CMS).

Snippets from articles within the news and company information areas are pulled into pre-defined column areas within the main page content. The web site's administrator has complete control over which items appear within these peripheral page areas. He or she can hand-pick any article from a list in the CMS, or decide to set it so that the site automatically uses the most recently added items (most useful for news). An optional banner carousel on the home page can also be used to further promote its showcase projects or services.

Within the contact area of the CMS, key contacts can be assigned to the different contact forms on the site. This way, LJ's own staff can choose who of the key contacts entered into the system, will receive notifications when a particular form is filled in.

Another neat feature in the CMS area is the ability to edit search engine marketing (SEM) meta keywords, titles and descriptions for each individual page. This enables the site owner to refine each page so that it can be better matched to keyword searches in search engines. Visitor trends and statistics can all be monitored from within the CMS, making it possible to monitor the effect of any changes made using the SEM tools.

Interested in a Dusza Web Design?

Securus Escrow is dedicated to offering professional, risk free, management of secure escrow services for the Worldwide aviation industry.

Dusza started the branding exercise by developing the brand name; 'Securus' is a latin word meaning safe, secure, free from care. The curves in the letter forms were also very good for the logo design.

The logo incorporates a 'shield' icon, representing protection and safety and a modern sans serif typeface. The implementation of the logo on a navy pinstripe background enforces the experienced, expert tone.

Leading Edge Communications Web Design, Development & CMS

Leading Edge Communications is a global alliance of specialist communications consultancies, serving clients in the air transport industry.

Its founding partners (Alison Chambers, Anthony Phillips and Tony Harrington) each have more than 25 year's experience in specific aviation media and public relations roles. The partnership also has highly experienced aviation communications associates throughout Asia and Europe.

Dusza designed a slick and professional web site. It features an effective, rotating banner replete with aircraft-related photography to reinforce Leading Edge Communications' brand to its target audience. A simple, blue, grey and white colour scheme is used throughout to further reinforce Leading Edge's visual branding as a consultancy within the air transport industry.

The Leading Edge web site also has a Content Management System (CMS) built-in to enable the site owners to add new content, as well as delete or edit existing pages, using only a web connection and browser.

For example, the News area enables the site administrators to add, edit or delete news items. Each news item can have multiple images and a date associated with it. By default, the order in which news items are stored is determined by age. Newest items are sat on the top of the pile, which means that the latest three articles are always displayed on the front-end of the site (the entire archive is always available from within the news section itself). However, as with the other areas in the CMS, the site administrator can shuffle the articles around into whichever order is required.

A second configurable area within the page layout is used to display information from the Lead Partners section. As with the news items, the site is set-up to automatically add lead partner information to the footer area of every page, including a link to, and associated thumbnail image from, the first four items in the list.

The other editable areas within the CMS include an about the company, and a clients section, again where the site owners can add as many extra articles as required. The top three items are programmed to appear within site sub-navigation in all of these sections.

Does your company require a web presence that properly reflects its core offerings and vision?
Mangrove Coaching Web Design, Development & CMS

The Mangrove offer personal and business developmental, coaching retreats to help individuals achieve their full potential.

The Mangrove required a web presence to promote its weekend retreat and professional coaching services. The Mangrove provide a collection of unique and innovative coaching services and wished its website reflect this innovation in simple, clean and natural style. The Mangrove wanted a unique we bsite, built bespoke, on budget and within a tight timescale.

The Mangrove web site required a members section, which enable clients who have attended the retreat to communicate with each other and track their personal development, as well as detailed retreat information, coaching information, resources and an about us section. It also initially needed to have the ability to book online and contact The Mangrove direct. The Mangrove wanted to be able to easily expand its web site in the future. Two possible areas of expansion include; the ability to take online booking payments and the ability to sell merchandise.

The Mangrove had an existing brand identity which Dusza had to work within. The company's key target audience is "urbanites" aged 25-45 with medium to high incomes. The Mangrove aim its services at customers who are in a state of transition with regards to their professional career. The Mangrove services aim to coach its customers through this transition. The web site needed to reflect the beginning of this journey through "the mangroves".

Dusza's primary task was to establish The Mangrove's key services and promote the company in an effective, and easily accessible manner. As The Mangrove's main clients are likely to be unsure about life changes decisions, the website style needed to be calm, soothing and inviting. The Mangrove needed to appear as their 'shining star', the help they have needed, but up until now have not found.

The Mangrove's web site is the first step in this journey. Simple, clean and well-written content inspires users to become clients, and simply by using the Mangrove website, potential clients feel comforted.

SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) plays a key role in the development of The Mangrove web site. Millions and Millions of people use search engines everyday to answer their questions and provide information about particular subjects. Many potential customers who are looking for coaching are likely to be using search engine giants like Google to find their answers. The Mangrove benefits hugely from the traffic provided by search engines. With this in mind, Dusza included a content management system to enable The Mangrove to expand its web site without the need for costly additions or rebuilds.

Of course, just as important as pulling in traffic, is converting the traffic into paying clients. This is why the services of The Mangrove feature prominently in the web site design. Dusza provided a simple, elegant and fast means of allowing users to book with The Mangrove. Deterring users by ineffective form design and booking or eCommerce processes is a common flaw made by many other web agencies.

Interested in a Dusza Web Design?
Emerald Media Public Relations Web Design, Development & CMS

Emerald Media is a public relations company for the airline, aerospace and travel industries. It works with small and medium-sized aviation companies who want to grow.

Its strategy is helping these companies to punch above their weight. As such, Emerald Media required a web site that it could use to promote its services to prospective clients, with news, services, client testimonials, company information and contact details. As a public relations company, it needed a web presence that was professional in appearance; one that delivers the company's core offerings and values clearly and succinctly. Dusza designed and programmed a completely bespoke content-managed site for Emerald Media so that it would be able to keep the content up-to-date for itself.

The site itself is clean, crisp, and unembellished, relying on the main banner for its graphical focus. The banner elegantly fades through a series of airline, aerospace and travel industry related photography. Beneath the banner, the main page content is proportioned into three columns: navigation, main body text area, and news previews.

The main navigation button bar is designed so that when an area is selected, the first three items pertaining to that section are presented within a sub-navigation menu. All of the section's pages additionally appear within the area overview page, formatted into a neat list with preview photographs. This enables visitors to get review articles covering old news items and long-since established clients, that would not otherwise appear in the site sub-navigation. This navigation method is typical across all sections, giving the site a consistency in operation, and thus making it more intuitive for visitors to use.

Core areas in the site include a section about the company, its clients and testimonials (these can be linked to one another), the company's services and associates, and an area where Emerald Media can post news. Which news items appear within the news preview column, and in which order, is even configurable via the site's Content Management System (CMS).
